  • Marula oil – For Centuries Indigenous populations of the African Nations have used the Marula tree.  Traditionally, the Tsonga people of Mozambique and South Africa used the oil as a body moisturising lotion, and massage oil for babies.  Tribes’ people preferred to use marula oil as a daily body cleanser, instead of water.  In the cosmetics industry Marula oil is known as the “miracle oil”, due to its absorbency, skin hydration, and moisture retention. 

    The oil is high in natural antioxidants, tocopherols, sterols, flavonoids, and vitamin C, and has extremely high pectin content.  All of these qualities make it an extremely nourishing and hydrating addition to both skin and hair care.

    Argan oil - Women of Morocco have used Argan oil for centuries as part of their daily skincare, hair care, and nail care routines.  Argan oil is said to have excellent restorative and age-defying effects, which are largely due to the plants vitamin and essential fatty acid structures.

    Argan oil is rapidly absorbed through the dermal layers making it an excellent moisturiser for dry skin.  It possesses natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties, making it an effective treatment for a wide range of skin conditions.  Argan oil is often used to restore strength, softness and brightness to hair as well as soothing the scalp.

    High in vitamin E (tocopherols), Argan oil works to hydrate and heal the skin through its antioxidant action, protecting cell membranes from oxidation, potentially having an anti-ageing effect.  Argan oil is rich in essential fatty acids, which work to fight drying and elasticity loss in the skin and hair, improving both texture and appearance.  A recent study showed that regular topical use of Argan oil in post-menopausal women greatly improved skin hydration.

    Essential oil of Vetiver - This beautiful earthy, herbaceous oil is reputed to balance estrogen and progesterone production making it ideal for the treatment of pre-menstrual syndrome and menopause. Vetiver has a cooling grounding effect so may assist to reduce hot flushes. Vetiver oil is associated with balancing the Root chakra.

    Given the title of “oil of tranquillity” Vetiver has a calming soothing effect on the mind and is used in the treatment of both physical and mental exhaustion and Insomnia. Due to its powerful anti-inflammatory and tonic properties, Vetiver has traditionally been used to relieve aches and pains associated with arthritis, rheumatism and general muscle fatigue. In skincare Vetiver can assist with strengthening the connective tissue making it ideal for fatigued skin, improving tone and elasticity.  It is known as a cicatrisant, assisting with the healing of skin through the regeneration of healthy skin cells.  Energetically Vetiver is cool and moist, clears heat, nourishing, calming and uplifting the spirit.

    Essential oil of Helichrysum - The name Helichrysum is derived from the Greek words helios (sun) and chrysos (gold) referring to the flowers of the plant which give the impression of little golden suns.  Helichrysum is also known as Everlasting as it’s flowers retain both colour and form when dried.

    Helichrysum is known for it’s action on the circulatory system and is used in lypmphatic drainage massage.  The essential oil stimulates the liver, gall bladder, kidney, spleen and pancreas, organs responsible for detoxification of the body.

    Noted for its anti-inflammatory properties, Helichrysum is recommended for use in skin care.

    This sweet fruity herbaceous oil is said to suit those who are prone to quietness and introversion with an understanding of the spirituality of all things.

    Essential oil of Atlas Cedarwood - This wonderful oil has a deep earthy, sweet, woody odour.  Atlas Cedarwood is known for its antiseptic, astringent, antiseborrheic, diuretic, expectorant, insecticide and sedative properties.  In massage it is said to assist with lymphatic drainage, clearing the body of unwanted toxins. The oil is also effective in reducing stress and anxiety.

    The astringent property of Atlas Cedarwood makes it perfect for inclusion in skin and hair care, improving oily skin, acne, dandruff and seborrhoea of the scalp.  It is also reputed to strengthen hair growth.

    Essential oil of Sandalwood - Sandalwood is one of the oldest known aromatic materials with a history spanning back some 4000 years. In the last 100 years it has become a well-known essential oil being used extensively in perfumery for its fixing qualities and its ability to synergistically blend with other oils.  Sandalwood when applied to the skin has soothing, cooling, and moisturising properties and is excellent for reducing inflammation and increasing hydration.  Sandalwood oil is considered the oil of choice for the meditative process, encouraging quietening of the mind and connection to the chakras.
