Black Cumin Seed oil (Nigella sativa)
Black Cumin Seed has been found in the great pyramid tombs in Egypt and is mentioned in both the Bible and the writing of the Prophet Mohammed. In the last forty years over 200 studies have been carried out on the medicinal and cosmetic values of Black Cumin Seed. It has been historically used internally to improve the condition of skin, hair and nails. More recently the same benefits have been shown through external application. Black Cumin Seed is rich in Vitamin A and C both required for healthy skin function. Vitamin A encourages skin regeneration and healthy cell function, while Vitamin C is required for the production of collagen, which gives our skin structure and elasticity. The oil of Black Cumin Seed is also high in essential fatty acids that provide deep lasting hydration to the skin, improving cell regeneration and function, reducing inflammation and increasing antioxidant levels. This wonderful oil keeps the skin looking young and fresh.
Camelia oil (Camelia oleifera)
The "beauty secret" of the geishas of Japan, Camellia has been recognised for centuries in Eastern Asia for its highly regenerative and restorative effects on the skin. Camellia oil is known for its excellent moisture-retaining ability, which makes it an effective moisturising and replenishing oil. It is suitable for sensitive and allergy-prone skin, absorbs quickly and easily, and leaves the skin looking and feeling smooth and supple. Camellia also possesses antioxidant, disinfectant, and germicidal properties. Camellia is extremely rich in mono-saturated fatty acids, containing more than 80% oleic acid. It is also rich in vitamins A, B and E, various minerals, and squalene, which is an important component of the skin's natural emollient system. Deficient levels of squalene can result in dry, sagging, and wrinkly skin.
Calendula oil (Calendula officinalis)
Calendula has a long history of use in skincare due to its powerful anti-inflammatory, cicatrisant (regeneration of skin cells), soothing and calming properties. It is said to tone the tissues and enhance blood supply.
Rose (Rosa damascena/centifolia)
Ah the Rose! No other flower has been so revered in ancient history, art, religion, literature and mythology than the Rose. Known as the Queen of flowers, Rose appears in history throughout many cultures. Rose is a symbol of great beauty, love, youth, perfection and immortality. The essential oil, extracted from Rose flowers is one of the most precious and complex known, containing over 300 chemical constituents, many of which are still unidentified.
The aroma of true Rose oil has an intense psychological effect, immediately calming the nerves, soothing and opening the heart, improving circulation and lifting the spirit.
On the skin Rose oil has excellent emollient, softening and hydrating properties, whilst also possessing stimulating and antiseptic qualities. It is perfect for all skin types, particularly sensitive, dry and mature skin. Rose oil has a tonic and astringent effect on the skin and may be helpful in reducing broken capillaries, redness and inflammation. Although Rose is often considered feminine, its powerful actions on mind body and spirit, are of great benefit to both sexes.
Neroli (Citrus aurantium amara)
Neroli oil is named after the 17th century Italian Princess of Nerola, Anna Maria de La Tremoille, who wore the oil in her gloves. It has been used for centuries as both medicine and perfume.
Neroli is soothing and calming to the nervous system and has anti-inflammatory properties. In skincare Neroli reduces redness and irritation and is suitable for all skin types particularly dry, sensitive skin with broken capillaries. Neroli is reputed to have a rejuvenating effect on the skin with its ability to stimulate the growth and health of cells. On an energetic level Neroli oil is said to calm and stabilise the heart and mind and lift the spirit. This precious oil has the most beautiful aroma.
